The PC racing management game originally released in 2016 now appears to be coming back to life as Motorsport Manager gets a first update in eight years.
Developed by PlaySport Games after an initial release for mobile back in 2014, Motorsport Manager was published by Sega. And while they’ve released other mobile titles since then, development of the PC title ended in November 2017.
In the meantime, we’ve seen an official F1 Manager game developed by Frontier Developments which lasted for two years, Open Wheel Manager 2 published by Microprose, and GT Manager which launched with an official WEC license.
But now it appears Motorsport Manager is back, with PlaySport Games posting “we’ve got the rights to Motorsport Manager back from Sega”. And releasing a new patch as a beta to fix a black screen on booting the game and updating the version of Unity used to 5.5.6f1m which could break some mods. Apparently a Mac build is also ‘in the works’. The Steam listing now has Miniclip as the publisher.

It’s obviously great news for any of us who already own Motorsport Manager to see development resume. And also for anyone who wants to pick up a motorsport management title, as more active games and competition means better features from all the remaining developers in the future, which is all positive.
The fact that Motorsport Manager has been around for so long, and was the default choice a few years ago, also means there are hundreds of mods available, which recreate classic years, add other series and more.
