It probably won’t make a huge difference when you’re competing in the junior open wheel category, but now Asetek Racing sponsors the iRacing FF1600 Rookie series, starting from March 17, 2026.
Some of the official partners do offer prizes as part of their support, but so far the official partnership means you can add an Asetek Racing logo to your car, and the Danish sim racing hardware company will use iRacing when it demonstrates products at trade shows.
“We’re passionate about creating an immersive racing experience that’s as close to the real thing as possible, while ensuring that all drivers are equipped to perform at their best. Sponsoring the Formula 1600 Rookie Series was a natural fit for us as it’s about helping sim racers develop as they enter competitive racing – we do that by giving everyone the opportunity to experience engineered reality with our products.” Maja Sand-Grimnitz, Asetek Racing SVP Simsports.

As someone who still races the Rookie series on a regular basis, the only real difference is that the logo now mentions Asetek Racing. But on a more positive note, it’s always good to see different sim racing companies working together, and might see some more publicity for the little Formula 1600s in the future.
“We’re excited to welcome Asetek Racing as the newest sponsor of iRacing’s Formula 1600 Rookie Series. It’s one of the most popular series on the sim and a great place for users to learn racecraft. This partnership shows Asetek’s commitment to helping iRacers become the best sim racers they can be.”
Angela Sinopoli, Director of Sales at iRacing.
And following on from recent product launches, it shows Asetek are investing some money in building their profile. If that means they want to send me some kit to test and use, then I’d definitely be happy to hear from them.
