Nine American and Australian cars have been added to the racing sim with the Project Motor Racing V8 Power Pack now available as paid DLC, along with the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta circuit. It’s included in the Year 1 Season Pass or can be bought separately for around £12.99.
The new cars are split across three separate classes. V8 Evo includes the 2023 Ford Mustang AU and 2023 Chevrolet Camaro AU. That year saw the Gen 3 car regulations introduced in Australian Supercars with the 5.7 litre LTR Camaro and 5.4 lire Coyote V8, less downforce, and a lower minimum weight. The Chevrolet was chosen as a replacement for the Holden brand, continuing the long-held rivalry between General Motors and Ford.

USV8 does what you might expect, with the 2022 Dodge Challenger, 2022 Ford Mustang and 2022 Chevrolet Camaro. Modern naturally-aspirated V8 engines, rear-wheel drive, no traction control and not much aerodynamic help to make the most of around 520hp.

And then there is the Historic USV8 class, which is the one I’m most interested in, featuring the 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302, 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, 1970 AMC Javelin and the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. This all goes back to the 1970s Trans-American Sedan Championship with drivers like Parnelli Jones and Mark Donohue wrestling the cars around various U.S and Canadian circuits.

Ironically, Road Atlanta wasn’t on that calendar, only opening in 1970 and hosting the Trans-Am Series from 1972 onwards in various years. It’s a popular American circuit now owned by IMSA Holdings, and will be familiar to most sim racers and racing game fans having appears in most titles. It’s notable for hosting the Petit Le Mans endurance race, along with other IMSA events, GT World Challenge, Moto America and more, and most people are familiar with rise up and down through the esses section, and out braking attempts into the turn 10 chicanes. The Project Motor Racing version has been scanned to include both the Short and GP layouts.
