DiRT 3 is the latest rally game to be developed by Codemasters, including over 50 rally cars, and with double the track content of the 2009 DiRT 2 game. In addition to rally racing, you’ll also get the chance to drive in Gymkhana-style showpiece events inspired by WRC driver Ken Block. It retains the X-Games licence, but also has the WRC licence.
Weather effects are being included, such as snow and rain, with some rallying taking place at night.
Locations revealed so far include Finland, Norway, Kenya and Monte Carlo, plus an expanded free arena area based around London’s Battersea power station. And the X-Games licence means you also get the official Los Angeles and Aspen courses. All told, there will be over 100 routes.
The cars include the 1960s Mini Cooper S, the 1970s Lancia Stratos, 1980s Audi Quattro S1, Ford RS2000, Metro 6R4 and Peugeot 205, and 1990s Toyota Celica, Lanci Delta Integrale and Subaru Impreza, plus the likes Kris Meeke’s Peugeot 207 S2000 and the current X-Games motors, giving the biggest-ever selection of cars.
DiRT 3 will also let you share video of your biggest crashes, as well as giving a flashback feature to rewind after a crash. It will be available in 2011 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
