More Project CARS 3 Photos Shared

Following from the initial news of an announcement trailer and Summer 2020 release date, Slightly Mad Studios have been mainly publishing new information via social media, along with more Project CARS 3 photos shared.

The game is attempting to combine accessibility for new racers using a gamepad with the demands of hardcore sim racing enthusiasts, which is certainly a tricky task to try and acheive. And means the updates are all trying to reassure both groups.

So that’s all the latest Project CARS 3 information so far – the prospect of better handling and force feedback, especially for anyone using a gamepad, is good news. The default joypad settings for previous games were challenging at best, certainly from personal experience.

Being able to tweak driver aids isn’t unusual, and we’d expect immersive VR and weather settings based on Project CARS 2. But it will be interesting to compare how the game looks if all the motion blur etc is removed. From the screenshots, the third person view does make everyone think of previous Codemaster arcade racing games.

The in-car view is obviously a lot more familiar to sim racers. And the more I look at the HUD, the more I actually start to appreciate a relatively clean and uncluttered design. The Project CARS series has always looked great, and the main question mark tends to be about the car physics and handling.

So we’ll have to see how the work of Slightly Mad Studios translates into actual gameplay. But there’s not too long to wait…

You can now pre-order the PS4 and Xbox One editions from Game, although bonus content and an exact release date haven’t yet been confirmed. It’s also on Amazon, with the release date listed as December 25th, 2020, which is stretching Summer quite a bit. Previous Project CARS games for the PC are listed on Steam, but there’s nothing for Project CARS 3 as yet.

You can now pre-order Project CARS 3 as a Standard or Deluxe Edition (which comes with 3 day early access and Season Pass). it’s available as a digital download for the PC via Steam, the Xbox One via the Microsoft Store, and the PS4 via the PlayStation Store. The standard edition will set you back £49.99, while the Deluxe version is £74.99 across all platforms.
