Wreckfest Mobile Announced For Release In Autumn 2022

August 15, 2022 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

Four years after originally appearing for the PC, there’s now a Wreckfest mobile announced for release in Autumn 2022, for both Apple and Android devices. And the mix of racing and crashing could be a lot of fun in a portable format.

Originally developed by Bugbear Entertainment, the game has slowly appeared on an increasing number of platforms, arriving on PS4 and Xbox One in 2019, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021, and Nintendo Switch in 2022. The mobile version is being created by HandyGames, who were coincidentally acquired by THQ Nordic in 2018, the same year the publisher picked up Bugbear.

The German developer has a long history of creating mobile games since 2003. Original founded by brothers Christopher and Markus Kassulke, they’ve since published and developed titles on PC, consoles, iOS and Android.

Obviously the mobile version of Wreckfest will have some graphical limitations compared to the more powerful PC and console hardware. But aside from that, it looks like it’ll be pretty similar to the existing version, with the screenshots and trailer featuring mobile gameplay and a total of 24 cars on track, along with the handling and descruction physics we’re all familiar with.

If you take your racing seriously, then you’ll be pleased to know there will be controller support. And you’ll be able to compete in multiplayer alongside Career and Challenge modes. The later sounds like the existing challenges and tournaments which rotate on a seasonal basis, and allow you to unlock vehicles and cosmetics as rewards.

Speaking of the vehicles, Wreckfest mobile will also have customisation options for whatever you’re choosing to race. And that’s likely to be anything from a classic muscle car to a motorised lawnmower or school bus.

It sounds a lot like Wreckfest mobile is basically a straight port of the existing game. And if it all works well, that could be a very good thing for anyone wanting a quick race or two when they’re away from their sim rig.

Keep up with all the latest Wreckfest news, updates and content, right here. And you can see all the vehicles officially available in the game, from motorised toilets to trucks, with our Wreckfest Car List.

You can buy Wreckfest digitally on Steam for the PC, on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation Store for PS4 or PS5. Or via Game or Amazon.
