The retro-themed simcade racer is now available for £19.99 as Formula Legends launches for PC and consoles after a few years in development.
It comes from Italian developers 3DClouds, who previously worked on Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Stunt Mayhem, and various licensed kart racing titles aimed at kids. But Formula Legends is a lot different as it takes you through a single-player story covering each era of open wheel racing since the 1960’s to the modern day.

Each decade features early, middle and late periods, with a suitable car model and a selection of teams and drivers inspired by real entries for those championships. The fictional drivers also feature a range of skill perks which can help you guide them to victory. In total, there are 16 unique cars available to drive and unlock at launch.

Formula Legends also features 14 circuits inspired by famous race venues, with many of them evolving from the Vintage and Classic versions to a more Modern layout, with straw barriers replaced, kerbing increased and more advertising displayed around each course.
One big simcade feature is the changing weather, which relies on you to pick the right moment for a pit stop to swap tyres and refuel. You’ll need to keep an eye on your rubber, petrol and the track evolution throughout each race, with three levels of AI opponent, along with your preference for driving aids.

“We’ve all poured our hearts and souls into Formula Legends’ development,” said Francesco Bruschi, CEO of 3DClouds. “We have been blown away by the positive response to the game from media, content creators and players, with launch being just the next step for us.”
“We’ve designed Formula Legends to be fully mod-able – from the smallest in-game livery logo to entire car models and more,” Bruschi added. “The PC version of Formula Legends can be easily decompiled and recompiled allowing the community to mod, tweak and create whatever they want and share their efforts with others. We can’t wait to see what they create!”
A roadmap for DLC and updates includes four planned car parks before the end of 2025, along with free updates for quality of life and new features.

Formula Legends is now available for the PC via Steam, Epic, GOG and Green Man Gaming, the PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Series X|S via the Microsoft store and for the Nintendo Switch via the eShop. Keep up with the latest Formula Legends news and more, here.
