iRacing will add four Aston Martin Racing cars to the lineup available in the game, including the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, and the Le Mans class-winning DBR9.
“The opportunity to produce these authentic digital Aston Martins is genuinely exciting news for iRacing,” says Tony Gardner, President of iRacing.com. “Aston Martin has long been synonymous with sports car racing excellence, and the opportunity to race the Vantage GT3, DBR9 and other Aston Martins on the virtual tracks of iRacing will generate tremendous enthusiasm among our members.”
The Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 was unveiled in 2012 to replace the DBR9. In 2012 it took 2 championship wins, 18 race wins and 30 podium finishes. In 2013 it took 17 wins and 34 podius in series including the Nurburgring 24 Hour, Dubai 24 Hour, Blancpain Endurance Series, GT Asia, International GT Open, British GT, Australian GT, Belgian GT and Britcar.
It features a modified version of the 6.0 V12 production engine to produce more than 600bhp, with a carbon fibre propshaft and Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission, plus semi-auto paddle shift gear change.
It’s also been announced that iRacing.com members have now completed a total of one billion laps, which if you average 1 minute per lap, equals around 17 million hours of racing since iRacing launched on August 26th, 2008. 2014 has seen the addition of the Super Late Model Chevrolet, the BMW Z4 GT3, the Dallara DW12 IndyCar, Lucas Oil Raceway, the revamped Phoenix International Raceway and England’s historic Donington Park circuit. Monza, Gateway Motorsports Park and the Holden Commodore VF V8 Supercar are planned to be added by the end of the year.
Finally, one of the most interesting planned additions if the forthcoming ability to include team and driver changes within races, which is set to arrive in late October, and will enable drivers around the world to share the racing duties in a single car to really simulate Endurance events.
At the moment, new members can get 3 months of iRacing access for nothing, saving $30. It’s available until 15th October, 2014 and includes 7 cars, 10 tracks and unlimited racing.
