One of the biggest events of the year, with a trade show and live competitions, will be held entirely online for the first time as the 2020 ADAC SimRacing Expo goes virtual.
Normally it’s one of the biggest eSports racing events with thousands of visitors travelling to the Nurburgring to see the latest products from developers and sim racing hardware manufacturers.
Obviously the restrictions around the world due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, and the specific rules for Germany have meant the original plans for the 2020 ADAC SimRacing Expo, which would have been held from September 4-6th, have had to be cancelled.

Instead, the 2020 ADAC SimRacing Expo goes virtual with online events running from December 11-20th. And one benefit is that everything will be free of charge.
“Due to the current circumstances, it is unfortunately not possible for us to hold our rapidly growing event on-site at the Nürburgring this year. Nevertheless, we don’t want to leave our supporters outside in the cold and have therefore considered a comprehensive concept for an entirely digital version,” says Marc Hennerici, Managing Director of ADAC Travel & Event Mittelrhein GmbH.
We already know that the SimRacing Trophy and ADAC Digital GT500 team races will be livestreamed to find winners. Other content being produced will include interviews and more from leading simulator manufacturers.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens as the 2020 ADAC SimRacing Expo goes virtual. We’ve seen an apparent increase in development for many sim racing games as teams have coped admirably with remote working. And although hardware shortages has lead to problems for anyone looking to buy reasonably-priced entry-level sim racing equipment, it seems that is becoming less of an issue now.
And it does mean that anything you save on travel and accomodation can go towards investing in your sim rig! In the meantime, you can find the latest news on sim racing wheels and pedals, along with regular sim rig coverage.
We’ll also keep you posted on all the latest news regarding the 2020 ADAC SimRacing Expo and other live events.
