Just a few days after the Heart of Russia DLC was indefinitely postponed, we’ve now seen the Euro Truck Simulator 2 West Balkans DLC announced. Which means you’ll get to drive through eight countries, with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia all making an appearance.
SCS Software revealed that planning for this big map expansion began more than a year ago, including prototyping specific locations and 3D model creation. The full map design team has only started working on the DLC in the last couple of months, but there are already finished areas which can be shared in videos and screenshots.

Given all of the disruption faced by SCS Software (and other developers) over the last few years, it’s impressive that they’ve managed to adapt their plans quickly throughout it all. And the expansion looks like it will have a lot of beautiful scenery and varied environments to explore.
The most recent map expansion for ETS 2 was Iberia, released in April 2021. Prior to that were the Road to the Black Sea (December 2019) and Beyond the Baltic Sea (November 2018). Which means there are relatively few areas still to cover before SCS Software has released the whole of Europe, along with their ongoing work to update and improve existing content over time.
