The two long-running trucking sims will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as it’s announced ATS and ETS2 are coming to consoles.
Developed SCS Software revealed the news at the Future Game Show on the eve of the annual Gamescom event with a short video trailer to welcome new players. There’s no exact release date as yet, but you can find them on the PlayStation and Xbox stores to wishlist (ATS PS5 and Xbox, ETS2 PS5 and Xbox)

Euro Truck Simulator 2 was originally released for the PC via Steam back in 2012, with American Truck Simulator following in 2016, and both started with a small section of each continent. Over time the drivable area has expanded with multiple DLC expansions, along with additional trucks, trailers, graphics overhauls and more.
If you’ve envied PC owners for all those years, it’ll be a relief to know you can now enjoy hauling cargo across Europe and the US on your console.
The description of Euro Truck Simulator 2 for consoles mentions more than 60 European cities across the UK, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Polands and many more, which suggests some of the existing DLC for the PC has been bundled into the console release. Meanwhile American Truck Simulator includes California, Nevada and Arizona.
It seems that most of the features of the PC version will be carried across, including customisation, settings, and being able to build your onw haulage company or just taking on quick jobs as the mood takes you. The one thing that will be missing at the moment is any multiplayer component, as the Xbox listings are for Single Player only. So you might miss out on the convoy experience for a while.
Then again, given the wealth of DLC that’s likely to be ported across if the titles are successful on console, it’s always possible multiplayer driving could arrive in the future. Especially considering the first DLC to let you drive cars within the sim was officially announced in July.
In the meantime, you can keep up with all the latest American Truck Simulator news, here, and Euro Truck Simulator 2 news, here.
