While some sim racers prefer to test themselves purely on lap times or against AI, the main draw for our hobby is competing against other humans. And Straight4 Studios obviously know this, with the Project Motor Racing online multiplayer details revealed at the Tokyo Games Show.
The first important news is that it will all be included free as part of your game purchase, with scheduled race times for cross-platform ranked monthly championships, plus social racing and custom lobbies, along with class and overall driver rankings.

“No passes. No rentals. No subscriptions,” says Ian Bell, CEO of S4. “PMR gives you full online racing on day one, right out of the box — built for drivers who value clean, hard competition over complicated paywalls and qualification hurdles.”
Along with the fact that custom lobbies can be hosted without any fees, there will be two leaderboard modes with Factory Driver Challenges to chase real-world laptimes, and Endurance Hall Events to take on long distance legendary races. And for the ranked racing, you’ll need to complete a license test and be assigned a Driver Rating from 0-100.
All of that sounds pretty promising, as long as enough drivers are competing online to make it fairly easily to jump into a reasonably well-populated lobby at any time. Something that might help that will be the cross-platform championships, although it’ll be interesting to see how PC sim racers with wheel and pedals will potentially race against console racers using a joypad in a fair and competitive way.

More Project Motor Racing Cars And Tracks
While the multiplayer details are the big news for Project Motor Racing, some news cars and a famous American circuit were also confirmed. The seven vehicles include some GT3 and GT4 examples as the manufacturers list is exapnded, along a famous Le Mans winner, and a sim racing staple. The cars are:
- Acura: 2022 Acura NSX GT3 Evo 22
- Chevrolet: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R
- Mazda: 2017 Mazda MX-5 Spec, 1991 Mazda 787B
- Mercedes-AMG: 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT3
- Nissan: 2023 Nissan Z GT4
- Toyota: 2023 Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo

And finally for now, the concrete surface of American motorsport’s favourite airport, Sebring International Raceway, has been confirmed. It’s a fairly common choice for a U.S venue in sim racing, and while it’s not one of my personal favourite venues, the Florida road course is a well-known host for big events including the 12 Hours of Sebring, IMSA and GT championships etc, so it makes total sense to include it in Project Motor Racing.
Project Motor Racing will launch on November 25th, 2025 for the PC, PS5 and XBox Series X|S and pre-orders are open for the PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store or the official website, the PlayStation 5 via the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, or via Game and Amazon. As a reward, you’ll receive the bonus GTE Decade Pack.
