The current top-of-the-range Podium Wheel Base DD2 QR2 is being replaced with a new 25Nm Fanatec Podium DD Wheel Base revealed to launch in Q1 2026.
As the new flagship model from Fanatec, it promises a consistent 25Nm of holding torque with 33Nm peak overshoot, compared to the 25Nm peak of the predecessor, which was originally launched back in 2018. Alongside the power, Fanatec have also reinforced the electronics and heatsink, and optimised the internal thermal management, along with using an aluminium motor shaft and bearing seats for the front and rear.

There’s a new servo motor developed in Germany specifically for the Podium DD with an optimised skew angle on the rotor magnets to reduce cogging torque, along with improved efficiency and smoothness from the FluxBarrier tech.
The chassis and casing are full aluminium with the cooling fins also functioning as a side rail mounting system, but you’re still able to bottom mount the Podium DD to your rig if you prefer. And the whole unit is a more compact design, similar to the more recent ClubSport wheel base. You also get a 10cm shaft extension included to help you find the optimal positioning for your needs. The shaft itself looks relatively thin, which is handy for getting your FOV perfect.

No price has been announced, but the current Podium Wheel Base DD2 QR2 is listed at €1,499.95, with the rest of the current range under €1000. It will be compatible with the PC, or Xbox with a specific Xbox wheel choice, but not PlayStation.
It’s been announced alongside matching Podium series pedals, and will be up against the top models from rival brands. But around a year after their acquisition by Corsair, it’s good to see a new flagship model arriving which might get Fanatec more involved again when you’re looking at high-end sim racing products, given the success of the CSL DD at the lower budget end of the wheel base market.
