If you were excited by the return of the controversial car combat series, then you won’t have to wait long to try it, as Carmageddon: Rogue Shift will launch on February 6, 2026.
Developed by 34BigThings, it’s coming to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on that date, with a release for the Nintendo Switch 2 version not yet confirmed. Set in 2050 as a spin-off from the original game series, the Italian studio have opted for a roguelike approach with randomly generated paths to follow for a unique route each time. So you’ll need to quickly plan how to survive and win, including upgrades and repairs.
Each time you die you’ll start over, but spending ‘beatcoins’ allows you to unlock some permanent bonuses to make life a bit easier. Especially when you’re up against boss rights along with regular races.

You’ll have a car roster of 15 different vehicles to pick from, with FWD, RWD and AWD examples. Just before Christmas, five examples were described in more detail, with the Eagle GT muscle car, the Clunker 1978 pickup truck, the Firecrack 5 Turbo hatchback, the all-round SQR-NE55 Vision74, and the Hawk 1977 all having diferent perks. For example, the Hawk comes with the Meat Shield, that increases your durability for every undead enemy you defeat, while the Firecracker 5 has a Magic Number perk which gives you bonus acceleration and ammo on every seventh use.
The potential combinations of 15 vehicles, 13 weapon classes and 80+ perks adds a lot of potential depth to working out the best synergies and strategies.
A new official PS5 trailer has also been released:
If the cars and weapons are enjoyable to drive and use, then Carmageddon: Rogue Shift could be a lot of fun. The PlayStation and Xbox listings confirm it’s a single player experience, so a lot will rest on the handling, and how satisfying it is to destroy the Wasted zombies and other competitors.
Carmageddon: Rogue Shift is available to pre-order for the PlayStation 5 and costs £32.99, or for the Xbox Series X|S at £39.99. You can also wishlist it on Steam for the PC. And you can keep up with the latest Carmageddon: Rogue Shift news, updates, DLC and more, here.
