Following on from the news that the sim will no longer feature a career more in the future, Kunos Simulazioni are trying to get things back on that with Assetto Corsa EVO Early Access Update 0.5 now available.
The main attractions are seven new cars and two circuits to drive. The most interesting to me are the classic road cars, with the 1983 Audi Sport quattro, Volkswagen Golf Mk1 and Toyota AE86 arriving, along with the BMW M2, Caterham Seven 485 CSR Final Edition, Dallara EXP and Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992). In terms of new tracks, both Watkins Glen International and Circuit Paul Ricard arrive with four layouts available at each location.

Features added to Assetto Corsa EVO in the update include the first iteration of a Free Camera mode, so you can look around your replays and capture screenshots, despite the current lack of a photo tool. It also upgrades to DLSS 4.5, with the Nvidia tool offering an AI transformer for Super Resolution if you’re using a GeForce RTX card. And revises the track cutting system to give players a chance to either give up any time they’ve gained or face a penalty.

The other noticeable change will be that Career Mode is now disabled, and you’ll load directly into Open Mode, where you’ll find any cars you previously purchased. On the flipside, there’s a long list of tweaks and fixes for a wide range of niggles, a new launch control system, and UI changes.

– gain-based track cut logic:
when cutting, there’s a gain evaluation, if there is no gain, there is no warning, if there is a gain, the player has 500 metres to give up the gain, if this fails, the player is given a warning/time penalty/DT/SG/DSQ depending on the severity of the remaining unserved time gain, a widget helps the player determine whether time is being given up or not
– fixed crash when restarting certain special events
