With passenger journeys and tasks being added via the new Coaches DLC, we’ve now seen the Volvo 9700 coach revealed for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
There’s no release date for the new content yet. But the new game mechanics will include managing multiple stops to stay on schedule, and trying to keep your driving smooth and comfortable at the same time. The Volvo joins two previously revealed, and fully licensed vehicles, with the Scania Touring and MAN Lion’s Coach.

Bus simulators have proved fairly popular since the likes of OMSI back in 2011, with more recent examples including The Bus, and Bus Bound. And given that SCS Software have covered almost all of Europe with existing map packs, it makes sense to start exploring alternative game mechanics and content which can be added to Euro Truck Simulator 2. Whether that’s buses or cars.
The specific version of the coach, originally introduced in 2001, is the Volvo 9700 Double Decker sold across most of Europe and North America with latest model using the 12.8 litre Volvo D13K diesel engine. The top spec version puts out 500hp and 2500Nm of torque. Which you might need with up to 96 passengers and a total weight of 26,500kg (the same as 37 classic Minis).
For the version recreated in Euro Truck Simulator 2, you’ll get the Volvo 9700 in a 6×2 configuration, and will be 4 metres tall and 14.3 metres long. You’ll get the typical level of customisation options, including interior passenger seats and curtains.
If the Coaches DLC proves successful, you’d imagine SCS will also add the same game mechanic to American Truck Simulator, so it’s likely the Volvo 9700 will also make an appearance there in the future.
