The cost and choice available for direct drive sim racing setups keep improving, as you can now build your own Fanatec CSL DD bundle for less. The wheelbase has been reduced to just €199.95 or $199.95, if you purchase it at the same time as your choice of wheel and pedals from the Fanatec range.
Having originally launched in 2021 as a new and more affordable direct drive option, a bundle launched in February 2023, with the Fanatec CSL DD Race Ready P1 bundle also including a set of CSL Pedals, and a CSL Steering Wheel P1 V2 for a total price of €499.95, and in June it dropped to €399.95 and was rebranded as the Ready2Race package. The CSL Steering Wheel P1 V2 is expected to be available from August 17th, 2023.

It’s a pretty good deal, but if you don’t want to wait for the wheel, or want something different, then you’re now able to configure your own bundle if you can navigate your way through the purchase process on the Fanatec website without going insane.
For example, you might prefer the CSL Elite Steering Wheel McLaren GT3 V2, and the CSL Elite Pedals. Just add them to your shopping basket along with the CSL DD, and the discount will be automatically applied. Obviously, choosing different wheels and pedals will be more expensive than the Ready2Race package, but if you wanted a Formula or GT3 wheel anyway, it could be worthwhile.
All the prices are for the standard 5Nm peak torque Fanatec CSL DD, with the optional 8Nm Boost Kit 180 sold separately.
And I doubt the innovations and price cuts for affordable direct drive sim racing setups will be slowing down any time soon, given the recent launch of the Cammus C5, increasing competition from Moza, and Fanatec responding with discounts and new bundles. Whatever your budget, there’s probably no better time to be a sim racer shopping for wheels, pedals, cockpits and more.
